Robbinsdale, Minnesota, in Hennepin county, is 4 miles S of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota (center to center) and 5 miles NW of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Robbinsdale was founded on April 19th, 1893. Robbinsdale was the first suburb of Minneapolis and was named for Andrew Robbins, an entrepreneur who had purchased 90 acres of land for the purpose of making the area a suburban town. In the late 19th and early 20th century, people traveled to Robbinsdale to go duck hunting on Crystal Lake. Robbinsdale has the oldest continuously active marching band in the U.S.Robbinsdale benefits from easy access to the nearby cities and towns with which it shares the Minneapolis - Saint Paul metropolitan area. Robbinsdale contains a population of approximately 14,123. Robbinsdale had aregional medical center, convenient shopping, lake vistas, a variety of recreation activities, all only 15 minutes from downtown Minneapolis. |
